Ken’s insider tip: his all-time favorite mountain bike loop is Mescal to Deadman’s Pass to Long Canyon to Chuckwagon. Visit Famous Pizza afterward for a slice of pizza and local Arizona draft beer.
History buffs will enjoy exploring the many archaeological sites and museums found throughout Central Arizona. Montezuma Castle National Monument is located near Camp Verde. It offers insight into life during Ancient Pueblo times, while Tuzigoot National Monument just north of Cottonwood reveals ancient dwellings built by Salado culture people during the 12th century AD.
